In Mourning

This weekend I am officially in Morning...

I am in morning for all my "skinny" clothes that I can no longer wear.  Though I was never a size 4 and pretended to wear a size 6 (in clothes that ran large) I was mostly a comfortable size 8.
Now I am officially a size PREGGO aka fat butt sandwich.
I am done squeezing myself into my old pants and finished attempting to stretch my shirts so that they hang longer over my growing belly.

This weekend I am breaking down and cleaning out my closet.  All my beautiful, slimmer fitting clothes are being relocated to the back, dark corner of my closet and may never be seen again.
I will try on each individual item in my closet and give each skirt, shirt, and dress one last chance to fit for maybe another final wearing.

If you're out there reading my blog, I only ask one thing...
In honor of my old wardrobe, pull out your "skinny outfit" and wear it for me this weekend.

This blog is dedicated to my favorite pair of skinny jeans.  May you rest in peace.

Our Baby Furniture Project

My Brother and Sister-In-Law were sweet enough to give us their crib and changing table among other baby essentials.  And being the Design Monster I am I just had to take the beautiful furniture they gave us and customize it for my baby.  So Wes and I headed to Lowes.  Here's our Baby Furniture Project...

BEFORE

Process...

Step 1: Put your Husband to work sanding the furniture.

Step 2: Tape off areas of the furniture you don't want paint on.

Step 3: Make your husband paint the furniture.

Step 4: Add a Wash Finish
I just used white and brown acrylic paint mixed with water.

Step 5: Sand corners and random areas to give the furniture character.

AFTER

Now our furniture is complete.  Next step, baby bedding!!!

I'd also like to give a shot out to my wonderful husband for putting his heart and soul into this furniture project.  He deserves a big gold star!!!

I've Got a Baby Ninja!!!

I am around 16 to 17 weeks along in my pregnancy.  It's around that time most pregnant women start feeling some baby movement.   For the past week and a half I've been patiently waiting to feel some baby action.
And finally 5 min. ago I was laying in my bed reading this great book "The Help" and all of a sudden I felt THE KICK!!!  Not a flutter and not gas, it was a real KICK!!!  Then 2 seconds later came another KICK!!!  I got so excited I had to get out of bed and share it with the world!!!!

So basically my BABY NINJA is just perfect and already very athletic.

Here's a recent photo of me and my Baby Ninja.

FOOD HOARDER

Hello my name is Connie Mathis and I am a Food Hoarder…..

I’ve recently noticed a new habit I’ve picked up since being preggos.  I now hide snacks and goodies EVERYWHERE.
My purse is filled with Granola Bars (and M&M’s).

My office cabinet is filled with trail mix (and Ghiradelli Chocolate).

The middle console in my car contains cheese crackers.  And I sneak away and hide every time I need a little snack.  Not sure why I feel like I have to be sneaky  about snacking these days.  Maybe it’s because every time the people in my office see me eating they start oinking, or maybe it’s because I catch people staring at my stomach all day long.

So I’m officially coming out of the closet and not hiding anymore!!!

Yes I do eat every 2 hours!!
Yes I have been known to leave my house just because all of a sudden get a craving for McDonalds French Fries and a Coke. (I know I’m not suppose to have caffeine)

Yes I do send my husband out to buy Mambas from the gas station at 8pm in the evening cause I NEED THEM!!  And trust me he doesn’t put up a fight cause he needs them too.

And Hello World,  I know you are secretly snacking too so spill the beans and let me know what you’re snacking on these days!!  I might want some!!

The Man's Reaction to Pregnancy

So far since being pregnant Wes and I have had several weddings and parties to go to.  I've encountered 3 reactions from men when revealing that I'm pregnant.

Here's what I've come across so far.

# 1. The Runner

"The Runner" is that guys who strikes up a conversation with a nice girl.  Conversation is going great.  Then somehow the, "what are you drinking?" question pops up and I have to confess my fake gin and tonic is just a sprite with a lime because I'm pregnant.  Immediately "The Runners" face changes to a slightly sour look as if a black cloud just appeared over my head.  He ends the conversation and when I turn around for 1 second he's gone.

# 2. Total Uncle Creepy

"Total Uncle Creepy" is that ease dropper while you are having that conversation with "The Runner" and as soon as he hears the words "I'm Pregnant" it appear that "Uncle Creepy" picks up the scent of my extra hormonal state and starts drooling!!  A bit flattering at first since you just got dissed by "The Runner" but then "Uncle Creepy" tells you how sexy you are while staring at your boobs like a big piece of steak.  Quickly find your husband or the nearest exist.

#3. The Care Bear

This one is my personal favorite.  "The Care Bear" is that guy who finds out you're pregnant and instantly asks if you need anything or wants to know how you are feeling.  Every time he goes to the bar he comes back with a water or ginger ale.  If there is something on "The Care Bears" plate that you've been eyeballing for 20 min. he takes notice and gladly hands it over.  When at a wedding "The Care Bear" makes sure you have a piece of both the Grooms chocolate cake and the Brides yellow cake.   It truly is amazing at how this group of men reacts to a woman who is preggos.

This weekend Wes and I are heading to another fun wedding!!  Wish me luck that I find lots of "Care Bears" and that I am able to avoid "Uncle Creepys" and "Runners"

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!!

Hello World!!

I apologize for not blogging for the last week and a half.  I'm so tired and I'm not sure if it's from my sweet baby draining the life out of me or if it's because I've been working so much I haven't been home before 7pm in ages!!

I'm not sure what to blog about because for the last 2 weeks I've been thinking about nothing but  one of our new projects at work.  So i just figured I'd share that with the world.

We just started the Interior Concept of a Yacht Club....

Here are a couple of "before" photos and the "after" interior concept renderings.

Just Call Me "Diablo" AKA Devil!!!

Well I'm pretty much going thru all the emotional phases while being pregnant that I've read about.

#1. Being Excited - CHECK
#2. Starting to Worry - CHECK
#3. Having a Total Emotional Breakdown - CHECK
#4. Being Really Excited Again - CHECK
#5. The Devil Phase - Currently In

In the past (3) days I have caught myself just staring at my poor husband and thinking, I wish he would just get the hell out of here!!!  I have the most wonderful, loving husband in the world.  And he's really funny and has been super sweet since I found out I was pregnant.  So I feel just awful.  But just seeing him, sitting there on the sofa, watching the Golf Channel makes me want to Scream!

I also put both of my animals on the back porch yesterday, just hoping they would run away, cause they were getting on my nerves too!  (totally just kidding about the hoping they would run away part, sort of)

I'm too tired to Cook.  I'm too tired to Clean.  And I just don't want to do a damn thing.
Hopefully this phase will end soon.  In the meantime, if you have any easy crock pot recipes or easy recipes in general, that would help with the cooking part.  Send them my way please.

"F" OR "P"?

I am officially a walking victim of the game "F or P?"  You all know the game!!!  Whether you play it silently in your head or secretly with a good friend, everyone is guilty.

The game "F or P" is simply when you see a girl in public and everything about that girl is fairly slim except for her mid section.  Naturally you wonder... "Is she "Fat" or "Pregnant"?"

Well here's a fun game for my readers and a sneak peak of what I'm looking like these days.

If your answer is "F" feel free to play this fun game silently.  You don't want to upset the abnormally hormonal pregnant woman!!

The Secret to Baby Registering....

Here are the 5 steps to take when registering for things you will need when having a baby.....

#1. Day One: Take your husband to Best Buy which happens to be in the same shopping center as Babies R Us. Sweetly mention, "Oh there's Babies R Us, lets swing by there and check it out."  Check out the rockers (it was a long walk from the parking lot and it's summertime in Florida).  Check out a few strollers, get overwhelmed.  Check out a few car seats, get overwhelmed.  Let your husband get excited about selecting a baby monitor (it looks like a t.v.!)  Leave Babies R Us.

#2. Day Two:  Create your registry online at Babies R Us.com.  Pick out 3 things, including the baby monitor your husband fell in love with and something made from organic cotton.  Get excited, then get overwhelmed, get confused, get frustrated.  Log off, turn the computer off and head to the kitchen for some ginger ale.

#3.  Day Three:  Call all your friends with kids and ask them what you should register for.  They will tell you that you don't need half the stuff you think you do.

#4. Day Four: To Be Continued....... Moms out there, please suggest one thing you couldn't live without. (wine doesn't count)

Introducing Trendy with a Tiny Twist

Welcome to my Blog!!!  I recently found out I am pregnant and decided the best way to share this experience is to blog about it for the world to read.
I'm creating this blog to share the good, the bad and the funny and hope this helps any other pregnant newbies out there.  I am not an expert at blogging or an expert being pregnant so any advise is welcomed.
Thank you for joining me on this exciting adventure of being a  positive pregnant woman who attempts to be trendy, now with a tiny twist!!
